Requirements of the anesthesia documentation
The truthful, timely and document secure duty to document anesthesiological services before, during and after an surgery is a fundamental part of the medical activity and an original duty towards the patient.
Anesthesia documentation must be kept for up to 30 years after completion of treatment. They are therefore an important part of perioperative documentation and quality assurance in health care in Europe, but also worldwide.

The legally prescribed documentation of procedures and activities as well as the read off of measured values, vital parameters and medication from the monitors, to which the anesthetist is obligated, is predominantly still carried out on paper.
This does not only occupy time for the physician in a documentary work, which is not available to him for the important task of monitoring the patient, but also often leads to a hardly comprehensible, often illegible and hardly sustainable documentation.
